My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a wonderful book! I cannot say enough about this amazing novel that I somehow whipped through in just a few days. Set in Glasgow in 1888 and 1930 London, it is told through the eyes of 36 year old Harriot Baxter. She meets and befriends the Gillespie family and takes the reader on an unimaginable literary roller coaster ride. I thought I had this book figured out halfway through, and now having finished, I'm left questioning what I read. I was sure I had picked up a love story. Gillespie and I is so much more.
